General Care for All Olive Basics Garments

We create our pieces to live with you—and we know life gets busy. Whether you're a high-performance individual with a busy schedule, a mother in the newborn trenches, or juggling all the moving parts of household and work, the best way to care for your clothes is the way that is most practical for you. So think of this not as a rulebook, but a gentle guide.

If you don't mind a little character in your clothes as they age, just follow this fuss-free method:
Cold wash, inside out, in a garment bag. Without removing from the bag, tumble dry on a gentle setting with a moderate load. Done.

For those who like to give their garments a little more love, here’s our general care advice.

• Wash with cold water (30°C or below).
• Flip inside out before washing to help preserve color and reduce pilling.
• Use a gentle cycle in the washing machine.
• Place garments in a laundry or garment bag to help maintain shape and softness.
• No bleach, no dry cleaning.
• Avoid tumble drying. Air-drying is best.

A Note on Knits

• Our ribbed or stretch knit pieces are soft and stretchy—and benefit from extra care.
• Never hang directly from the shoulders as this can stretch them out.
• Instead, reshape as you wish after wash, fold them over hangers and distribute weight evenly, or lay them flat to dry.
• This keeps their shape intact over time.
• Keep folded when dry.

Fabric-Specific Instructions

 

Bamboo Blends

(e.g., Bamboo + Cotton + Spandex or Bamboo + Nylon)

• Wash with similar colors.
• Garment bag recommended.
• Air dry only, no tumble drying. If you tumble dry, note there might be some shrinkage—a tip you can use if you want shorter pants.
• Use a steam iron if needed.

TENCEL®, TENCEL® Blends 

(100% TENCEL, or blends with Nylon, Polyester, Denim or Viscose)

• TENCEL Denim will fade naturally over time—each piece tells its own story.
• Always flip inside out.
• Use a garment bag.
• Cold wash or gentle hand wash for delicate items. Since it's anti-bacterial, you really don't have to wash it after every wear—simply air it out for days of light wearing.
• Avoid prolonged sunlight drying to retain softness.
• Hang to dry.
• Use a steam iron if needed.

Rayon + Spandex

• Turn inside out and place in a garment bag.
• Cold wash on gentle cycle.
• Hang to dry.
• Use a steam iron if needed.

Recycled Polyester + Recycled Spandex

• Cold machine wash, inside out.
• No bleach, no dry cleaning.
• Hang to dry or tumble dry.
• Use a steam iron if needed.
